Ingredients

  • 5 Lemons, peel only organic lemons are better
  • 1 1/4 cups Pure grain alcohol like Everclear or Vodka
  • 3 cups Water
  • 1 1/4 cup Sugar

Instructions

  • Using a vegetable peeler, peel the skin off of each lemon in long strips, making sure to only peel the skin and not peel into the white pith of the lemon.
  • Place the strips into the glass jar and add the alcohol. For alcohol I use everclear or you can use vodka. Mix together and seal shut. Store in a dark, cold place, like a basement, for at least 30 days.
  • After 30 days, continue to the next step.
  • Add the water into a pot and bring to a boil. Once boiling, add the sugar and heat over medium/low heat until the sugar has completely melted into the water. Remove from heat and set aside to cool off.
  • Once the sugar water has cooled, strain the lemon alcohol into the sugar water and discard the peels. Mix together to make the limoncello. Transfer the limoncello into a bottle and store in the refrigerator. Serve the limoncello in chilled glasses and enjoy responsibly!
