Arugula Prosciutto and Onion Pizza Recipe

Buon giorno a tutti! Today I will like to share with you my homemade pizza dough recipe. I will also show you how I make an Arugula, Prosciutto and Onion pizza with the dough. Don’t forget to watch the video below that shows you step-by-step how to make the dough and pizza.

Ingredients:

  • Pizza Dough (Store bought or Homemade)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • pinch of sugar
  • Tomato Sauce
  • Mozzarella
  • Onions
  • Prosciutto
  • Arugula

In a small bowl add 1-1/2 tablespoons of yeast and a half cup of warm water; let sit for 10 minutes. Meanwhile add 3-1/2 cups of flour into a large bowl (wooden bowl preferred). Add 1 teaspoon of salt into the flour and 1 pinch of sugar. Now it’s time to add the yeast and water mix into the bowl of flour. Start mixing the flour and water/yeast, slowly add an additional 1/2 cup of warm water while mixing. Once the dough is evenly mixed and formed into a ball, you will let the dough sit in a warm area for 45 minutes. What I like to do is put the dough into a bowl and cover it up with a few table cloths.

After uncovering the dough, it should look relaxed and ready to be flattened. Add a few tablespoons of flour onto your working area, as seen in the video. Begin flattening the dough into a pizza shape. You can use a dough roller. Once it is evenly flattened and round, put a few teaspoons of corn flour on top of a pizza peel, spread it out evenly; this will prevent the dough from sticking. Now put the pizza dough on the pizza peel. Next you will need to evenly distribute any kind of pizza sauce of your choice. I use my homemade tomato sauce. Now you slide the pizza off of the pizza peel onto a pizza stone, which has been preheated in the oven at 500 degrees.

Let the pizza sit in the oven for about 2 minutes, to harden the dough a bit. After 2 minutes, slide the pizza back onto the pizza peel. Add mozzarella on top of the pizza sauce, then the onions, prosciutto and arugula. Put the pizza back into the oven for about 10 minutes or until the crust is crispy brown and the cheese is melted. Slice your pizza and you’re ready to eat!
