Pasta with Peas Recipe

Hello Everybody! Today’s dish is a quick and easy pasta with peas recipe! This dish is perfect for those busy days where you have a short amount of time to cook a delicious meal. Peas are a great source of fiber and vitamins, so incorporating them into a meal is always a plus.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 3 bacon strips, chopped in small square pieces
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 20 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1 lb. elbow macaroni
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 pinch of hot pepper flakes
  • salt, to taste
  • parmesan or pecorino cheese, optional

Bring a pot of water to a boil with a tbsp of salt. Once it is boiling, add the pasta and cook as per the package instructions. In the meantime, prepare the rest of the ingredients as explained below.

Heat up the oil in a deep skillet over a medium flame. Add the bacon and stir to fry evenly. Once the bacon has fried for about a minute, stir in the garlic, onion and hot pepper flakes. Continue frying for two minutes over a low flame.

Next, pour the tomato sauce into the pan and bring to a boil over a medium/low flame. Watch how I prepare my homemade tomato sauce in the video below.

Once the sauce is boiling, stir in the peas. Taste the sauce to determine if you need salt or not. If so, add a pinch of salt or your preferred amount and stir. Continue cooking for 10 minutes on low.

At this point, the pasta should be done cooking. After draining the pasta, mix it into the sauce pan. Remove from heat and serve in a bowl. Add some freshly grated parmesan or pecorino cheese on top and enjoy! Cin cin!
